Candle Care

- Never burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time

- All candle wicks should be trimmed to 1/4" before relighting.

- For our wooden wicks, you can pinch the wick to remove the charred wood or you can use a wick trimmer.

- For our cotton wicks, due to shipping and weather conditions, wicks are left longer to prevent them from shrinking in the wax. Once you receive your cotton wick candle, please be sure to trim your wick before lighting.

- Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep away from pets, children, and drafts from fans, vents, etc.

- Never extinguish a candle flame with water.

- Sometimes with larger homes, a smaller candle like ours may be harder to smell. If you are having this issue, try moving the candle to a smaller area, like a bedroom, and see if that helps strengthen the smell.

Shipping + Returns

Shipping

The customer assumes all responsibility for shipping costs. We ship via USPS and orders take 5-7 business days to process.

Please make sure to double/triple check your address. The Candle Standard is not responsible for orders delivered to the wrong, or undeliverable address. If your order is sent back to us, we are not responsible for any shipping + fees. We of course will ship your order to the correct address, but you will be asked to cover shipping costs for reshipment.

During summer months, we only ship on Mondays and Tuesdays to help be sure candles don't melt in transit.

Please be aware we are not responsible for delayed transit times once your order is dropped off at the shipping carrier's location. We have zero control over transit times once packages are dropped off to the carrier. Should your package be delayed or lost, a claim will need to be filed with the shipping carrier.

Wooden Wick Troubleshooting

Wooden Wicks are the perfect ambiance setter but sometimes they can be tricky to use, especially if it's your first time having a wooden wick candle. Good thing we are experts right? Below are a few tips to help prevent any issues you may find.

Burn Time

It is important to always burn your candle for more than an hour at a time. (But never more than 4 hours at a time as a safety precaution) Tunneling can occur if you aren't allowing your candle to burn for an adequate time frame. Eventually, this will cause your candle flame to burn out as it won't be able to stay lit.

Trim, Trim, Trim That Wick!

Always trim your wick before relighting your candle. Not trimming your wick can have your candle burning way too hot and create soot (black marks) on the glass, or it could do the opposite and the wick may not stay lit. For an optimal burn, always trim your wicks to 1/8" or 1/4" to remove burnt wood. A candle depends on it's wax to fuel the flame, not the wick. If your flame can't draw from the wax, it will have a hard time staying lit.

Some ways to trim your wick:

- Wick Trimmers

- Nail Clippers you aren't using

- Pinch the charred wood off with your fingers

"Help, I trimmed the wick too short"

Let me start by saying WE ALL HAVE DONE THIS! Sometimes we just dont eye it right and trim that wick way too short. If the wick won't stay lit due to it drowning in the wax, blow out the flame completely and use a napkin or paper towel to soak up some of that melted wax. Then try relighting your candle. You may need to repeat this step again until your wick has room to do it's thing.

Custom Orders

Because we are a new business, we don’t have a bulk supply of items just yet. But this doesn’t mean we can’t do a big order!

Email us what you are looking for and how many candles you need and we’d love to do our best to make this happen for you.

Please understand it will take 2-3 weeks for custom orders as we will need to order the supplies and create. All custom orders will need to be paid in advance.
